| Press Release Template Should you want to write something about what you did to send to the local media, you simply need to take the release and change the language in yellow to be about you. Here's what you need to do. - Insert your name, phone number and e-mail where it says contact.
- Put the name of your city. Include your state if you live in the United States. If you live outside the United States, include your country. (For example: Arlington, Virginia, or Kigoma, Tanzania.)
- Insert the date (usually the date you send the release to the paper).
- Describe yourself in the first sentence (eighteen-year-old college student, etc.). If you prefer not to put your age, that's fine.
- Put your last name wherever you see Manoj's last name.
- In the second paragraph, describe what you've done in the community before coming to the Summit.
- Describe your action plan in the fourth paragraph.
- Describe your film in the paragraph about the Pearson workshops.
- Finally, put your contact information at the very end of the release in case reporters want to follow up with you.
Once the release is edited, read it over to make sure all the details are correct. When it's finished, send it to your local newspapers, television or radio stations to the attention of the news editor or assignment editor. It's a good idea to call the news desk and make sure that they received your release. If a reporter calls back and wants to interview you, please let Claire Jones know in advance if you can. You can e-mail clairejones@janegoodall.org or call her at 703-682-9252. Should the reporter want more information about the Jane Goodall Institute, Dr. Goodall or Roots & Shoots, please direct them to Claire's phone number or e-mail address.
